Facebook, you tease! Finally, it seems that Facebook is rolling out the new Facebook cover video option to more and more business pages now. If you don’t have it yet, don’t despair, it is coming!
I was able to update the cover image for Purple Door Creative with the video below recently and the feedback I’ve received has been overwhelmingly positive.
As a result, I’ve decided to start offering custom Facebook cover videos to my clients now.
It’s no secret that Facebook loves video. Videos get engagement and engagement is a huge driving factor behind Facebook’s algorithm. To ensure your content gets served to the greatest number of eyes, you NEED to be using video in your Facebook marketing. The new video cover image is a great way to get started getting yourself, your product, your company or your brand noticed.
How to create a Facebook Cover Video
Facebook recommends that your video be 820 x 312 pixels and anywhere from 20-90 seconds long. Cover videos automatically have the sound muted, but visitors can click to turn the sound on if they wish.
The size of your video can be different from that which is recommended, but Facebook will crop it to fit 820 x 312 pixels. You will have the ability to reposition your video to some extent within the cropped dimensions. Don’t forget to check how your video will display on mobile to ensure your message is clear regardless of the device it will be viewed on!
Videos can be built with any video editing software as long as the final output file is MP4 format.
